HC Deb 22 February 1984 vol 54 c548W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is yet in a position to announce his decision regarding the proposed purchase of the BAe 146 for the Queen's Flight.

Mr. Pattie

In reply to a written question by the hon. Member on 22 December 1982 at c.542, it was announced that a decision had been taken to purchase two BAe 146–100 aircraft to supplement the capacity of the Air Transport Force and to evaluate their suitability for the Queen's Flight. The aircraft entered service in mid-1983 and are proving to be highly satisfactory. It is hoped that we will be able to make an announcement later this year on our plans for the replacement of the present Andover aircraft in the Flight.
