asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many responses he has received from the Greater Manchester county area concerning the abolition of metropolitan councils; and how many were favourable and how many were unfavourable.

The list my right hon. Friend has placed in the Library indicates the local authorities from the Greater Manchester county area who have responded. A full list of respondents from a particular area could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
