68. Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will take the French Government to the European Court for their failure to allow the free movement of goods as provided for in the Treaty of Rome.

Mr. Rifkind

The Commission has the prime responsibility for enforcing treaty obligations.

We would draw cases of hindrance of the free movement of goods within the European Community to the Commission's attention.
