asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the various special employment training schemes in operation in the United Kingdom; and if he will give details of the numbers employed on these schemes for each year since these measures were introduced.

The total number of people covered by special employment and training measures at the end of December 1983 was estimated to be 663,000. Up to 544,000 will have received some form of training or other preparation for employment but the type and content will vary according to the particular measure and project involved.
