HC Deb 21 February 1984 vol 54 cc497-8W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the current discussions with his counterparts in the European Community on the cross frontier transfer of social security rights.

Dr. Boyson

My right hon. Friend is not at present involved in discussions on this subject with his European counterparts. However, as part of the continuing dialogue between member States, departmental officials attend meetings of the EC administrative commission on Social Security for Migrant Workers. This Commission, which consists of Government representatives of each member state, was set up under article 80 of Regulation (EEC) No 1408/71 and deals with questions arising on the social security position of employed and self-employed people moving between member states.
