HC Deb 21 February 1984 vol 54 c488W
Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will take steps to encourage the use of live traps as an alternative to self-locking and other types of snares.

Mrs. Fenner

I have been asked to reply.

Self-locking snares are prohibited by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as is the use of other types to control birds and specified protected mammals. My Department already recommends live trapping in circumstances where this is effective in preventing agricultural damage.
