§ Mr. DunnThe latest information available to the Department on total teaching staff employed by the Inner London education authority is for January 1983. Counting part-time staff on the basis of their full-time equivalences there were 33,214 teaching staff reported by the authority486W as being paid for service. Information on individual authorities' non-teaching staff is not collected by the Department.
§ Mr. Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science by what percentage figure non-teaching staff costs in the Inner London education authority are budgeted to rise in 1984–85; and what is the difference in cost in money terms.
§ Mr. DunnAccording to figures sent to my right hon. Friend by the leader of the authority, budgeted gross expenditure on non-teaching staff in 1984–85 totals £219.65 million, an increase of approximately £13.2 million—6.4 per cent.—over 1983–84. The figures vary for different parts of the service: for example, expenditure on non-teaching staff in administration and inspection is budgeted to increase by more than 9 per cent.
