HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c401W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in considering proposals to amalgamate village schools, he will take into account the need to avoid the creation of mixed age classes with more than 25 pupils.

Mr. Dunn

This is one of many matters which my right hon. Friend takes into account. However, all proposals are decided on their individual merits, in the light of everything relevant to the actual case, and particular considerations may apply in rural areas.
