HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c392W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will publish in the Official Report an account of all aid given to Turkey by the Government.

Mr. Raison

Before 1977, £58,229,000 in aid was provided to Turkey, of which some £4,744,000 was for technical co-operation. A more detailed account of expenditure for these years is not readily available. Since 1977 bilateral aid expenditure has been:

£ million*
European agricultural guidance and guarantee fund ¶135.7
Total 1,168.7

Notes

* All figures have been independently rounded.

† These figures are net of decommitments.

‡ Identifiable commitments are in respect of the steel industry only. Figures for aid to the coal industry are not available at the Wales level.

║ This figure is an under-estimate. It does not take into account schemes operated by the mampower Services Commission and others on a national basis in recent years: these cannot be regionally disaggregated.

¶ Figures are based on identifiable receipts and reflect the position as at November 1983.
