HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c397W
26. Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Energy why he has authorised the Central Electricity Generating Board to place orders for components and design work for the proposed Sizewell B pressurised water cooled reactor power station while the public inquiry into the proposal is still in progress.

Mr. Peter Walker

It has been necessary for the CEGB to commission extensive work on the design of the proposed Sizewell B power station in order to present the case to the Sizewell inquiry. The board has informed me that in its judgment it was necessary on commercial grounds to place orders now for £12 million worth of long lead materials.
