HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c368W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what recent representations he has received regarding dim-dip devices; whether he will list them; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

The great majority of organisations we consulted during 1983 were in favour of our proposals. I have very recently had confirmation of their continued support from the Institution of Public Lighting Engineers, the RAC and the Association of Chief Police Officers. I have also received a number of comments and questions about material recently circulated by the night safety advisory bureau, which is opposed to the regulations, and I will write to my hon. Friend giving my reasons for rejecting the NSAB's arguments. I understand that the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders is also circulating notes of opposition to the regulations.
