§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the Parliamentary Commissioner's report that false forensic evidence may lead an innocent person to plead guilty, he will now write to all those who pleaded guilty in cases in which Dr. Clift gave forensic evidence, or worked on forensic samples, to ask if they would like a review of their cases.
§ Mr. BrittanI have not considered it necessary to take further action in relation to these cases. I have, however, made it clear, both in my reply on 7 February to a question from the right hon. Member at c. 519 and in the evidence which I gave on 14 February to the Select Committee on the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, that I will consider the matter further if the examination by the Court of Appeal of the cases which are referred to it should reveal any new consideration.
