HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 cc274-5W
60. Mrs. Beckett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what further discussions he has had with the French and Canadian Governments on the acceptability of the passports of British Overseas Governments.

Mr. Whitney

I presume that the reference is to the passports of British overseas citizens.

There have been no such discussions with the French Government. I am not aware that holders of passports describing them as British overseas citizens have encountered difficulty in entering France on that account.

In respect of Canada, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my noble Friend the Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces in another place on 16 November 1983.
