HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 c321W
Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied with the publicity given to the sales of plantations by the Forestry Commission.

Mr. John MacKay

Yes. Notice is given in theEstates Gazette, at a very early stage, of all areas of plantations in excess of 5 hectares and of smaller woods with a known conservation interest which the Forestry Commission is considering for disposal. Thereafter, open market sales are advertised in the local and—or national press.

Mr. Body

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many sites of special scientific interest are to be sold by the Forestry Commission.

Mr. John MacKay

At 21 January 1984 the Forestry Commission was in the process of selling 27 properties covered in whole or in part by sites of special scientific interest. The properties involved, which do not necessarily comprise complete SSSIs, include unplanted land as well as woods.
