HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 c253W
Mr. Soames

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the review by HM Customs and Excise of the arrangements for the duty-free supply to diplomats of alcoholic drinks and tobacco goods of United Kingdom manufacture has yet been completed.

Mr. Hayhoe

Yes. As a result of this review, the arrangements whereby, in accordance with the Vienna convention, diplomatic missions may receive limited amounts of alcoholic drinks and tobacco goods free of customs charges will be extended to supplies of United Kingdom manufacture on a concessionary basis, with effect from 1 April 1984, subject to their compliance with certain marking requirements which are being notified directly to the trades concerned.
