HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 c221W
12. Mr. Douglas

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on recent meetings between the Scottish Office and officials of the Scottish Trades Union Congress.

Mr. Younger

I and my ministerial colleagues frequently meet officials of the Scottish Trade Union Congress. The most recent meetings were held on 2 December last year to discuss the rate support grant settlement; 20 December to discuss Scott Lithgow; and 3 February 1984 to discuss Scottish education and training issues.

23. Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he will next meet the general council of the Scottish Trades Union Congress to discuss with it the unemployment in Scotland and in Lanarkshire in particular.

Mr. Allan Stewart

My right hon. Friend has no current plans to meet the general council of the Scottish Trades Union Congress to discuss unemployment. However, Scottish Office Ministers, including myself, have held several meetings with the STUC over the past few months at which a range of subjects have been discussed.
