HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 cc226-7W
37. Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on employment prospects on Clydeside.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The prospects for Clydeside will benefit from rising economic activity in the domestic economy and abroad. In recognition of the particular difficulties facing the area the whole of Clydeside has special development area status. Additional help is provided to the area through the Clydebank enterprise zone, the Glasgow eastern area renewal programme, as well as other area initiatives in Motherwell and Coatbridge.
