§ Mr. Raffanasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he is yet in a position to announce details of urban development grant approvals in Wales for 1984–85.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsI am pleased to inform the House that I have today published a list of 12 new projects which have been given approval in principle under the urban development grant scheme; a copy has been placed in the Library of the House. The list includes private housing developments at Swansea, Rhynmey, Rhondda, Blaina, Skewen and Cardiff, commercial projects in the112W Rhondda and at Newport and industrial schemes at Cardiff, Llanelli, Wrexham and Rhondda. The total investment involved is some £26 million and this will be triggered by urban development grant input of about £4 million.
Several other projects are receiving further consideration and I am also aware that a detailed UDG application in respect of the major redevelopment proposals for South Cardiff is likely to be submitted shortly.
