HC Deb 14 February 1984 vol 54 c170W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in considering any proposals for the sale of St. Andrew's college, he will bear in mind the needs of Napier college for further accommodation.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The greater part of the Craiglockhart site of St. Andrew's college of education is owned by the Society of the Sacred Heart and the remainder by the governing body of the college. In any disposal of the site, all the parties concerned will no doubt bear in mind the interest of Napier college of commerce and technology, which at present occupies some accommodation there.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether plans to make Napier college a central institution, along with Glasgow college of technology, will be announced shortly.

Mr. Allan Stewart

My right hon. Friend will announce his plans for the implementation of the statement of principle which he made on 19 July 1983 as soon as the discussions taking place with Lothian regional council and Strathclyde regional council are sufficiently advanced.
