HL Deb 14 February 1984 vol 448 c249WA
The Earl of Dundonald

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action is being taken to ensure that hill cow and hill ewe subsidies are paid at an early date, taking account of the inability of the EEC to reach a decision at present on this matter, and the exceptionally bad weather conditions which have necessitated extra feeding during a period of the year when little or no farm income is available.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Lord Belstead)

As my right honourable friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announced on 9th February, payments of the 1984 hill livestock compensatory allowances will begin immediately.
