HC Deb 14 February 1984 vol 54 c156W
Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether, in view of the recent increase in unemployment in the area, he will give further consideration to requests for special development area status for Falkirk district.

Mr. Trippier

[pursuant to the reply, 13 February 1984, c. 23]: The White Paper on "Regional Industrial Development" (Cmnd 9111) announced the Government's intention to revise the assisted area map and invited submissions from all interested parties not only on the coverage of the map but also on the criteria on which decisions to designate assisted areas should be based. All submissions received by the 31 May deadline, including any relating to Falkirk, will be taken into account in making decisions on the map.
