HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 cc92-3W
Mr. Stuart Holland

asked the Secretary of State for Transport in how many cases since 1979 a decision has been made and announced by the Secretary of State on a public inquiry within 10 weeks of the opening of the inquiry.

Mrs. Chalker

Public inquiries are held into a wide variety of matters, ranging from harbour revision orders to railway accidents. The information requested on the time taken to reach decisions is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
