HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c83W
Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are his plans for the extension of the motorway system over the next decade; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ancram

Work on the southward extension of the M74 from Draffan to Millbank has just begun. Other motorway schemes planned for construction over the next 10 years include the northward extension of the M74 from Maryville to the former Glasgow city boundary; the M80 Stepps bypass; and the eastward extension of the M8 from Newbridge to the Edinburgh outer city bypass. The Scottish Development Department is investigating the feasibility of extending the M80 from Stepps to Haggs and of completing the M8 between Baillieston and Newhouse.
