HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c7W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in how many of 534 cases in which Dr. Clift gave evidence, and the accused person pleaded guilty, the convicted person is still in prison; in how many cases the sentence given was longer than five years; and in how many cases there is any evidence that the sentence was reduced because of the plea of guilty.

Mr. Brittan

This information is not readily available and, having regard to the answer I gave on 7 February to the right hon. Member's earlier question about these cases, I do not consider that obtaining the information would serve a useful purpose.—[Vol. 53, c. 519]
