HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c87W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will ensure that the information requested by the London borough of Haringey at the public inquiry into the Archway road scheme in 1977 is now released;

(2) what steps his Department will take to act on the supply of information and the widening of the inquiry following the adjournment of the Archway inquiry until 25 September.

Mrs. Chalker

My Department is studying the proceedings of the current inquiry to see if any new points have emerged that would have a bearing on these matters.

Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, before taking a final decision on the proposal to widen the Archway road, he will pay an official visit to Islington.

Mrs. Chalker

I have made and will continue to make appropriate visits to various parts of London to discuss initiatives and views about dealing with traffic and environmental problems. But I do not intend to make such a visit to Islington in order to discuss the Archway road scheme. The proper place for representations to be made about the Archway road scheme is before the inspector at the inquiry which has begun. It would not be appropriate for me to entertain private representations now that the inquiry has started and before a decision has been taken on the draft orders.
