HC Deb 10 February 1984 vol 53 c801W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Prime Minster what action is available to Her Majesty's Government following the default by the Common Market on the payment of £42 million due to Her Majesty's Government on 31 December 1983, in view of the failure of the President of the Commision to reply to the letter on the subject sent by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs dated 3 January; and if she will make a statement on the policy of Her Majesty's Government regarding such defaults on payments by the Common Market.

The Prime Minister

The Commission is still considering its response to the letter from my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on this complex and difficult question. Pending its response, I have nothing to add to my statement to the House on 7 December 1983.
