HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 cc727-8W
33. Mr. Colvin

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received about the European Court of Justice's ruling that the United Kingdom over-taxes still light wine by comparison with beer.

Mr. Hayhoe

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor has received representations from trade associations on behalf of the alcoholic drinks industry, from individual companies, from hon. Members and from the general public. These have expressed a range of views which he will take into account as he reviews duty levels in the context of next month's Budget.
