asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the number and value of offers of regional assistance made to firms in the Wolverhampton travel-to-work area for the last month for which statistics are available; and if he will give details of all Wolverhampton firms benefiting under the Industrial Development Act 1982.

[pursuant to his reply, 8 February 1984, c. 597]: The Wolverhampton travel-to-work area is not in an assisted area for the purposes of the Industrial Development Act 1982 and theefore does not qualify for regional assistance. However, under section 8 of the Industrial Development Act 1982 the following assistance has been offered to firms in the Wolverhampton travel-to-work area between may 1979 and November 1983:

Details of offers to individual companies are confidential and it is not the practice to disclose details of financial assistance given to individual companies other than in accordance with the arrangements announced by the then Secretary of State for Industry on 31 July 1974.
