HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 cc731-2W
54. Mr. Alexander

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is satisfied with the working practices at the new pay-as-you-earn computer centre at Cumbernauld.

Mr. Moore

The accounts office at Cumbernauld deals with much of the routine clerical and accounting work formerly dealt with by local collectors of taxes. I am satisfied that the system dealing with PAYE works well. The new system dealing with the collection of schedule D income tax however has given rise to some complaints and improvements are being sought.
