HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 cc684-5W
Mr. Janner

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland when he last carried out an analysis of information required for ethnic monitoring of the Lord Advocate's Department; and whether he proposes to take steps within the Lord Advocate's Department to comply with the monitoring provisions of the Commission for Racial Equality's code on ethnic monitoring.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

There has been no ethnic monitoring carried out within the Lord Advocate's Departments. As my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Treasury, announced in the House on 24 March 1983 a survey of ethnic origins of non-industrial civil servants is being carried out in certain selected regions. When the result of this survey is known the Government will decide what further measures should be taken.
