HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 cc725-6W
24. Mr. Hicks

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is satisfied with current levels of capital investment in the United Kingdom infrastructure; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Rees

The Government have no specific target for aggregate capital spending on infrastructure projects, which must be considered case by case. As my right hon. Friend the Chancellor told the House on 24 November, total public sector capital expenditure in real terms has been broadly stable since 1978–79.
