HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 c675W
Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proportion of the working population he estimates are covered by (a) non-contributory pension schemes and (b) contributory schemes; and how many are index -linked to the retail price index in both contributions and pensions.

Dr. Boyson

Based on figures obtained from the 1982 general household survey, 7.5 per cent. of employees belonged to non-contributory schemes and 42.5 per cent. to contributory occupational pension schemes. Statistics held centrally show no schemes that are index-linked to the retail price index in both contributions and pensions.
