§ Mr. Wallerasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about the Lovelock report on the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux and how its recommendations will be followed up.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherThe report is being published as a Command Paper today.
The team to review the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux under the chairmanship of Sir Douglas Lovelock started work in July 1983, and submitted its report, as requested, within six months. I am most grateful for the speed and efficiency with which it has carried out its task.
The report contains over 20 recommendations, most of which are addressed to the National Association itself. All concerned will need to study these carefully, and full consultations will be necessary with the association, before decisions are taken on follow-up action. I will report to the House again when these consultations have been completed.
