§ Mr. Freudasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current take-up of youth training schemes places in (a) Cambridgeshire and (b) in England; and at what intervals he will renew the provisions for the schemes.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAt the end of December there were 2,326 young people in training on the youth training scheme in Cambridgeshire, and 216,323 in training in 543W England. The commission contracts with managing agents and sponsors, on an annual basis, for sufficient places to meet the estimated needs of young people in each of its areas. Proposals from potential managing agents and sponsors for new schemes, and renewals, which meet the commission's requirements as to quality and standards are considered for approval on that basis.
