HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 c575W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to receive the report of Husband and Company's independent check of the foundations of the Severn bridge; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ridley

I have received the report, and I will place copies in the Library. In general, Husband and Company's check reaches the same conclusions as did Flint and Neill. Some strengthening works will be required and they will form part of the overall programme. The report identifies the need for further investigation into the risk of shipping collision and whether fendering and/or some extra strengthening might be required.
