HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 c571W
Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he is satisfied with the present state of the trunk road network in Greater Manchester; and if he will list the schemes in the county on which he expects starts to be made within the next three years.

Mrs. Chalker

I am not satisfied. We are taking action to improve it by completing the Manchester outer ring road and the related A6(M) Stockport north/south bypass, and by widening Barton bridge and the rest of the two-lane section of M63 on the western side of the ring.
