HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 c585W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list in the Official Report the age for retirement with full state pensions in each European Economic Community country from information which is available to him;

(2) if he will list in the Official Report details of state retirement pensions in other European Economic Community countries at the latest date from information which will be available to him.

Dr. Boyson

The information which the hon. Member seeks is contained in the Department's publication, "Tables of Social Benefit Systems in the Member States of the European Communities, Portugal and Spain (position at 1 January 1983)", a copy of which is in the Library of the House.

Mr. John

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the current value of the retirement pension for a single person and for a married couple if it had been fully uprated in 1978 and each subsequent year in line with the increase in prices or the increase in average earnings in the year to November, whichever was the higher.

Dr. Boyson

If the retirement pension had been increased in line with prices or average earnings, whichever was the greater, since November 1978 the rate would be £36.55 for a single person and £58.40 for a married couple.
