HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 cc579-80W
Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what charges are levied for the registration of a new nursing home by the owners and for the continuation of that registration and any inspections that may be required by law or National Health Service regulations.

Mr. John Patten

The prescribed fees to accompany applications for registration of premises under the Nursing Homes Act 1975 are as follows:

Number of beds Fee

£

Not more than 50 100
More than 50 but not more than 75 175
More than 75 250

A home in which no beds are provided for the use of patients at night is subject to a registration fee of £100 and there is a fee of £25 for applications for registration resulting from a change in the person registered, but where the home is otherwise unaltered.

The Health and Social Services and Social Security Adjudications Act 1983 introduced powers to charge annual registration fees, and we intend to introduce such fees during 1984.
