HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 c546W
Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his latest estimate of the total remaining area of derelict land in Wales; and if he will estimate the amount of such land in each of the previous 10 years.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The latest estimate of the Welsh Development Agency, which is responsible for derelict land reclamation, is that there are in excess of 30,000 acres of derelict land in Wales at the present time. Equivalent figures for each of the last 10 years are not readily available, but it is estimated that since 1973 around 7,500 acres have been, or are in the process of being, reclaimed.
