Member for Bromsgrove (Mr. Miller), Official Report, 31 January. c. 127, how many of the very elderly ineligible for the death grant are women and how many men; and what would be the cost of extending the death grant to these people.
§ Dr. BoysonOf the estimated 25,000 people who would be ineligible for death grant on grounds of age less than 500 are men. The cost of paying the full £30 grant in respect of all these people would be £0.75 million. It would cost a further £6.5 million to pay the full grant in respect of those who are at present eligible only for the half rate grant on grounds of age.
§ Mr. Freudasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the local offices where the experiment he referred to in his answer of 31 January, Official Report, c. 126, is to be conducted.
