Coal Stocks

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what were the weekly coal stocks in and outwith power stations from 1 November 1983 to 1 February 1984.

I am advised that coal stocks held by the National Coal Board, and those at power stations, up to the latest available date were as shown in the following table. There is normally a seasonal fluctuation in coal stocks, with a fall in winter. At present CEGB coal stocks are about 2 million tonnes above the level at the same time last year.
