HC Deb 07 February 1984 vol 53 c566W
Mr. Gorst

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what representations he has received with regard to the ducting of cable television being allowable for full capital allowance; and what reply he has given;

(2) whether his Department has now completed its examination of the legal difficulties related to granting full capital allowances to cable television companies involved in laying cable television in purpose-built ducted systems; and if he will ensure that ducting will qualify as an integral part of laying cable television network and will now be regarded as expenditure on the provision of machinery and plant for the purposes of the Finance Act 1971, section 41(1)(a).

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 6 February 1984, c. 435]: The cable television industry has submitted written representations, and there have been two meetings between representatives of the industry and my officials at the Inland Revenue. The matter continues to be under active consideration.
