Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what resources he is proposing to make available under the urban programme in 1984–85 to partnership and programme authorities.

Subject to the quality of the detailed programmes submitted, I propose to make the following resources available under the urban programme to partnership and programme authorities in 1984–84:—

No authority will receive less in cash terms than in its initial allocation for 1983–84. Increased resources are being made available to the eight recently designated Programme authorities at a broadly similar level to comparable designated authorities in the regions concerned.
