HC Deb 06 February 1984 vol 53 c485W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he had during his recent visit to the middle east about the security of shipping lanes through the Straits of Hormuz; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Luce

During my right hon. and learned Friend's recent visit to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria, he discussed a wide range of issues, including recent developments in the Gulf, and the need to bring about an early end to the conflict between Iran and Iraq. The United Kingdom attaches importance to the freedom of navigation in the Gulf including passage through the Straits of Hormuz.
