HC Deb 06 February 1984 vol 53 c452W
Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he last carried out an analysis of information required for sex monitoring of his Department.

Mr. Ridley

As my hon. Friend the Minister for Civil Service said in his written answer to the hon. Member on 30 January, he hopes shortly to announce a programme of action to follow up the report of the joint review group on employment opportunities for women in the Civil Service. As part of this, management and trade unions in my Department will review data provided in such areas as the incidence of part-time working, including job sharing where possible, posts restricted to one sex, reinstatements, equal opportunity complaints, promotion by sex and grade, and attendance at training courses.

My Department regularly sends information about complaints under the Sex Discrimination and Equal Pay Acts and details of single sex posts to the Cabinet Office (management and personnel office) who maintain and analyse central records.

My Department is also participating in the Cabinet Office selective research on the relative progress of men and women in the Civil Service.—[Vol. 53, c. 15.]
