§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will seek the help of the Royal College of Nursing, the Confederation of Health Service Employees and the National Union of Public Employees in making an estimate of the number of trained nurses who are currently unemployed.
§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke[pursuant to his reply, 3 February 1984, c. 404] I do not consider that trying to make an estimate of the number trained nurses who are currently unemployed would serve any useful purpose. Many nurses have domestic commitments which limit the hours when they are available and the location in which 515W they can work or interests in particular specialties which limit the range of posts available to them. There is no evidence that there is any unemployment amongst nurses who are not confined by these considerations.
