§ Mrs. Chalker65,179 lorries were check-weighted by traffic examiners in the 12 months period ending 30 September 1983; an increase of 19 per cent. over the previous period. I will continue to seek ways of improving the effectiveness of our enforcement procedures and reducing the extent of overloading.
