HC Deb 06 February 1984 vol 53 c428W
Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Prime Minister what use the Government make of the services of private security firms and the Post Office for the handling of confidential material; and whether any of them has had experience of such material then being leaked.

The Prime Minister

The handling and transmission of classified material is governed by confidential guidance issued to all Government Departments. It would not be appropriate for me to give details relating to this guidance. There is, however, no evidence that leaks have occurred as a result of the use of private security firms or the Post Office for the handling of classified material.
