HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 cc309-10W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the deficit on manufactured trade for the first 11 months of 1983.

Mr. Peter Rees

[pursuant to his reply, 31 January 1984, c. 165]: On a balance of payments basis, manufactured trade was in deficit in the first 11 months of 1982 by £2.1 billion. This was offset by a large surplus on non-manufactures and invisibles, so that the current account as a whole was in surplus by £1.3 billion over this period.
