HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 c342W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give for 1982–83, for each region, the figures for payments to outside contractors for support services and for contractual arrangements for patient care to indicate the services provided; and if he will also give these figures as percentages of the total expenditure of each region.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The annual accounts submitted to the Department by health authorities show the following information. They do not provide a detailed analysis of expenditure on contractual arrangments for patient care.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current total membership of district health authorities; and how many members are women.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

There are 3,210 district health authoritiy membership places in England. Information about appointments, which are made by regional health authorities and local authorities, is not held centrally.
